Changes at Age Four (Continued):

A New Born Brother, An Aunt's Marriage.

Your undisciplined author has allowed six months to elapse without a written word. So it was the summer gardening and vacation season. And there were many other things to do. What poor excuses. No matter. You will be privileged to become very acquainted with the author's character. It is very similar to that of the protagonist -- a real study of character and character developement. Now, in late 2003, autumn and winter are commencing. It is high time to take up once more the inked quill and scribble.

Because of the above facts certain changes to our structure have been determined. In the age of the internet it has been decided to keep the writing very simplistic. We will try not to be overly wordy. We will try to get to the story and keep the narrative short and to the point. Therefore we will subdivide many chapters into their elemental parts.

Of course the imminent arrival of another family member was communicated to the young boy. I'm sure that he shared in the enthusiasm that accompanies a new addition to the family. I suspect that he expected another child similar to his second cousins that he loved to see when his family traveled to Massachusetts. But such travel was rare; gasoline was still rationed. The war still raged in Europe and in the Pacific. Peace was still another year away.

The new child arrived late in mid summer. He was a boy. The news was communicated about the new brother, but hospitals were slow in those days. It was nearly another week before the mother and brother arrived home. But the baby brother was a little baby. The older boy made the statement, "Take him back. I can't play with him." Oh, what a terrible statement, very weak on the possession of a proper understanding of a new baby. But it would be another learning experience about life, an experience for a very selfish learner who was rapidly losing his prima-dona status as this life's center of attention.
